While many are excited that scientists have produced a vaccine for COVID so quickly, many others are still in doubt about its effectiveness or trustworthiness. Both sides have valid justifications for their preferred positions.
For those who refuse to be vaccinated, they enjoy the freedom to make that choice. Vaccinations may not be mandatory per se, but what happens when employers begin telling their employees that they can’t work unless they get vaccinated? Or what if stores or restaurants refuse to serve people who aren’t vaccinated? The unfortunate answer is likely an “us versus them” mentality. Or another justification to discriminate against a class of people.
Although I’d love to see our entire planet vaccinated, I understand those who are hesitant or all out refuse to take it. But can we honestly complain if life moves on without us? If I refused the vaccine, could I truly demand to be accepted and treated equally? I SHOULD be able to, but we know that wont occur.
So what is the governments plan to keep the country unified when it’s about to become more divided than support for our last president? Will fights ensue like it has with mask usage in public? Are we truly prepared for another segregated America? Maybe science can find a vaccine for that as well.
